Scott Huffman is a Husband, Father, Small Business Owner, Community Leader, and Navy Veteran. He lives with his wife, Karen—a NC Visual Impairment Teacher—and his three wonderfully supportive children: Wyleigh, Blake and Jeffrey.
Scott, grew up in the small Southern Railroad town of Spencer, NC. His mother, Carolyn (now 82 yrs old) a single mom, raised 3 kids from the "tips" she earned as a Truck-stop waitress. She had no hourly pay. Yet, during Scott's youth, his family never realized the struggle of their mother. It was her strength that lifted her children to succeed.
Scott graduated from North Rowan High School also served as a North Carolina Governor's page twice for then Governor Jim Hunt.
He went on to serve in the United States Navy and achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class working in Communications. During his 2nd term in Washington, D.C., Scott was had the opportunity to work in the military liaison office for his hometown representative, Congressman Bill Hefner.
After Military service, Scott was excited by the growth of the "information super highway," Scott risked everything to start a technology business. He grew that business to over 3000 customers and created jobs. Scott did not qualify or participate in one single government tax break. But, it was the anti-competitive behavior and regulations passed by Congress in favor of big multinational corporations that hurt his business.
Scott's motivation to step up and speak out became apparent when his daughter at 10 years old became worried about her friends in school after the 2016 election. Scott started an Indivisible group, rallied his community to participate and speak out about the polices and direction of our nation.
He along with fellow supporters held Town Halls, raised billboards and engaged their Members of Congress.
Scott's involvement in his community has energized, renewed the hope that government can work for the many. Not those at the top. His service to country is grounded in his working class upbringing.
Scott believes our Government can be Fair and Good for all of us.
Use of Scott's military rank, titles, or photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement by the
Department of the Navy or the Department of Defense.
